We have Louise Haley bringing a trunk show to us. Louise has been quilting over 40 years with about half of those long-arming as well. Louise teaches beginning and intermediate classes at Bolts N More. She takes a positive approach to teaching beginning quilters, encouraging their work to keep their interest in quilting. Louise’s quilting is primarily modern, though she has quilted with reproduction fabrics. Come Tuesday and see a fantastic trunk show with Louise!
Plus, community will share any finished quilts we have. Bring your show and tell. Many quilters from Nimble Thimbles won ribbons at the Tucson show and the AQG show. If you won please bring your quilt to show!! We are so proud of all our talented quilters.
A chapter of the Arizona Quilters Guild. We are a group of people who love quilting. Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All meetings are held in person at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Community Life Center) located at 739 W. Erie Street in Chandler, Arizona. Occasional Zoom meetings are held and those would be announced ahead of time to the membership.

Preview of Upcoming Meetings
Here are the upcoming meetings. You do not want to miss them!
August 1st- PUPS. hosted by Kathy Kreig. If the NT family gave you a PUP goal to finish during the 2016-2017 year, and you were diligent enough to finish it, bring it to the meeting. We want to celebrate your accomplishment with you!
Also consider bringing 3 PUPS (Poor Unfinished Projects) to the meeting. You will be given a chance to show the 3 options to the group, and they will vote which PUP they want you to finish in 2017-2018. This is lots of fun. So dig in those bins and search the backs of those cupboards for things you just want to get done!
August 15- Helen Robinson for Sew Kind of Wonderful will be our guest. Simply Modern Quilting Magazine has one of their gorgeous designs on the cover of their newest edition. But I'm sure you have seen those cute pumpkins and pineapples- they are everywhere! Don't fear the curve- come and be inspired!
September 5- Carrie Bloomston- This gifted artist designs patterns and fabric for Windham. Remember those cute paintbrushes with collaged words? Her newest line is called Dreamer. She has also written a book called The Little Spark about encouraging creativity. She is a terrific, motivating speaker-don't miss it!
September 19th- QUILTO. Hosted by Kathy O'Brien. Like BINGO, but more fun because you can win great quilting supplies.
Invite a friend and see you Tuesday with your PUPs!

Design Brainstorming this Tuesday
At this week's Tuesday
meeting, we're going to do some design brainstorming using fabric medleys on LOAN to us
from some of our members. We'll be in
small groups so we can learn from each
other. Hopefully we'll get useful ideas
from each other. (I kind of like this fabric, but WHAT IN THE
WORLD CAN I DO WITH IT?) We'll have
"reference materials", graph paper, pencils, etc. but you're welcome to bring your
own favorites. Berta suggests we bring
rulers and tape measures, but leave
the scissors and rotary cutters at home. This meeting is for a design activity only. If you
have fabric that has you baffled, we'd be happy to include it for discussion.
Hope to see you there!

Look What You Missed in January!
Here is Fran's completed wall hanging size top! I forgot to bring mine but is is just this size too. Fran has the best purples in there (the picture does not show those batiks off enough and a cute little bee fabric which reminds her of her mom too.
Judy brought her very first block from Midnight Flight too. She is going for a lap size quilt. I hope as we finish all of these you bring them in to share--they are fun in every colorway. Judy's is going to be gorgeous!
Above is mine and Kathy's baby top. A few of my hst geese have rebelled and flown the other way but I am pleased with it anyway. I am looking forward to seeing and sharing many more of these quilts!
This is Lori's son's much loved Bricks and Stepping Stones. Love a scrappy quilt that has some element that brings it all together like the black and white four patches do. This is one to snuggle under for sure!
So that is just some of what you have missed so far in January at Nimble Thimbles! Come and see us and bring show and tell--especially the Quiltville quilts!

November Meetings
There is a change in meeting dates for November. We will be meeting on the 2nd Tuesday and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
November 12 - Our program will be provided by Pat Knoechel from Quilt in a Day. Pat is Eleanor Burns' sister. We have been fortunate to have Pat present programs to us in the past and they are always great! She usually brings books, rulers, and patterns for sale. The meeting is held in in Classroom 6. Park on the east side of the Church building and enter through the open entryway.
November 19 - Two reasons to enjoy this program. Sue Williams, a past President and member of Nimble Thimbles, will providing a trunk show of her quilts. She is a prolific quilter and it is always wonderful to see her quilts.
Additionally at the November 19 meeting, we will be having a Great Pumpkin celebration: Everyone is invited to bring his or her favorite pumpkin creation (one we can eat--not an artfully carved jack-o-lantern) and we will have a pumpkin patch feast! As an added bonus, if each quilter who is bringing something yummy would email the recipe to Mary the week before, let's say the deadline is Thursday, Nov. 14, she will put together a copy of all of the recipes for everyone to take home. Please write RECIPE in the subject line to make it easy for her to recognize.

Our April 6 meeting is our very own Nimble Thimbles past president, Sharon Neidigh. Sharon has amassed a collection of vintage aprons, plus has made several, and is willing to share her collection with us. Her program is fun and interactive.
Please bring 1-2 aprons that you may have - I know there are several out there that have them stashed away from Grandma or Mom. It will add to the show and tell/program for the evening. Hope to see you there!

Meetings
On March 16, 2010, YOU ARE OUR MEETING. Members are to bring any and all older quilts they have access to -- anything made between 1850 and 1950. Quilt historian, Barb Eckoff from Iowa, will be joining us to talk about quilt history. The program on March 16 is dependent on members bringing something to talk about - no matter what condition the quilt is in!
Barb places the quilts in date order, and then talks about the particular fabrics that are in the quilt - reflecting style and colors of the time, as well as the quilt pattern names. It is helpful if members have a tiny bit of the history of the quilt - who made it, the part of the country it was made/found in, any dating in the stitching, and family stories. Even if you don't have a family heirloom, it's fun to hear other stories and see the interesting quilts. Please join us!
