Quilting Makes The Quilt Challenge
ARE YOU READY ????
HERE COMES QUILTING MAKES THE QUILT CHALLENGE
We would like to invite all members to participate in this year’s Quilting makes the Quilt challenge.
Everyone that joins in the fun will be given the fabrics ( not the backing ) and instructions for making the wall hanging , but the challenge will be in how you quilt the block. Since many of us fear the quilting part, we thought this would be what sets us free in letting our quilting juices flow!!!!!!!!!
We hope to have kits ready by the first of March .
The cost will be $15 and payment will be due by February 15, 2011.
See Kim, Patty, Martha, Bev or LeeAnna for any ?’s

Count down for P.U.P. Projects : aka Poor Unfinished Projects
Where has the past year gone? Time is quickly approaching for the reveal of our P.U.P. projects at the July 6 meeting. You still have 6+ weeks to complete your project and hopefully you haven't waited to the last minute. If you have, then get busy because for those that have finished will be entered into a prize drawing. Please bring your P.U.P. to the meeting in whatever stage it is in on the July 6 meeting for all to enjoy. Get stitchin!!!!
If you want to participate in the P.U.P. project for next year, then start digging in your sewing room and on July 6 bring in 3 options of unfinished projects and the fun begins when the members vote on which project you will be working on for the next year.

Chinese Auction
March 2 - Chinese Auction - 7pm at the Gilbert Historical Museum community room. Please bring your quarters and loose change ( and maybe a few dollars) to the Nimble Thimbles version of a Chinese Auction. Don’t forget to invite your friends and their quarters. We have beautiful baskets of quilting and non-quilting related items for auction that have been generously donated by our members. We have also collected donations from vendors at the Phoenix Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival and our local Quilt Shops, thanks to Barb Barrow. Once you add your quarters to the basket, one lucky chopstick is chosen as the winner of the basket - but, you have to play (or pay) to win! Join the fun as Vice President Nancy Haldeman auctioneers for what will prove to be a wild evening, guaranteed.

Chinese Auction
It's in the planning and Nancy H. has put out the call for items to be donated for the Chinese auction , that is scheduled for March 2,2010. She is asking for any items that you might no longer need and willing to donate for a good evening of fun and bidding. The items don't necessarily have to be sewing related, but can be any household item. For example: candles, picture frames, cooking items, decorating items, garden things...etc. She is collecting at all the meetings thru February and can't wait to put the items in gift baskets for the auction. Nancy is also collecting any 2 1/2 inch strips you might have and also any width strips for donation to the auction. Thanks for your help.

President's Challenge
Our new president, Kathy has challenged us to create a small quilt that represents friendship and what our group means to us individually. Don't panic you have until the holiday party in December to create your quilt. It doesn't need to be big, just a small quilt size.

New Buttons! Upcoming AQG Events!

I have learned how to add buttons to this blog! A little bit more complicated than adding buttons to a quilt but still, I just had to follow directions. :) You will notice to the right a "Home" button and a "AQG Newsletter" button. If you click on the "Home" button it won't do anything unless you've moved to a sub page and it will take you back to the main page. If you click on the "AQG Newsletter" button, it will bring up the most current version of the AQG newsletter.
The AQG Fall Meeting will be on October 11 at ASU West. You must pre-register and there is a fee because you will be getting lunch. Information is available in the AQG Newsletter.
The 2009 AQG Quilt Show will be March 13 and 14 at the Mesa Convention Center. Mark your calendars now.

Aug. 24 Stitch N'Pitch at Diamondbacks Game

This event was brought up at the meeting last night, so I thought I'd provide some links to information for those who are interested. It looks like tickets are available on-line and at some local shops like Fiber Factory in Mesa. You get into the game early and go to a needlework expo. It looks like this focuses more on embroidery, needlework, knitting, and crocheting than quilting but could still be lots of fun. You get a t-shirt as well.
