May 2nd Meeting
Come on over to the May 2nd meeting where our own members Phil and Connie will be doing a trunk show of all of their favorite quilts.
Congrats to Crystal Bray who was voted in as our next President at the last meeting.
A chapter of the Arizona Quilters Guild. We are a group of people who love quilting. Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All meetings are held in person at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Community Life Center) located at 739 W. Erie Street in Chandler, Arizona. Occasional Zoom meetings are held and those would be announced ahead of time to the membership.

Sunday Sew In
The next Sunday Sew In is on April 30th. The is an open sew from 8:30-4:30 located at the Chandler Police Station located at 250 E Chicago, Chandler. Feel free to bring your project and enjoy the company.
The police station has asked us to clean up after ourselves so just make sure to pick up any stray threads or fabric.

Neck Cooler Wraps
Thank you to everyone that is bringing in the neck coolers for the Aris Foundation. We will be bringing more crystals to the next meeting. If you want to purchase your own, you can get them in the gardening section.

Neck Coolers using Water Crystals
For the Inside
portion of the neck cooler:
· Cut muslin or other lightweight
fabric 5 inches x 18 ½ inches

· Double over muslin. Sew sides and
bottom. Divide as shown above, leaving the top open.
· Using a funnel, fill the four 4.5
inch Pockets with 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of the Water Crystals. Experiment with
the first one, and then do an assembly line for future neck coolers.
· Fold over top and sew closed
securely.
For the Body of the Neck Cooler:
· Cut Cotton outside fabric 5 inches x
width of fabric (42 inches)
· Double over cotton fabric, right
sides together.
· Leaving an 18 inch opening in the center top, sew to either side, narrowing to a
point.
· Trim excess fabric in the point
areas. Turn. Iron.
· Iron the top 18 inch opening, so that
the quarter inch seam allowance is set.
· Insert the muslin filled with the
water crystals.
· Sew along either side of the muslin
lining to secure it in the cotton neck cooler.
· Sew along the top 18 inch edge,
catching muslin layer in the ironed seam.
Finish the seam along the entire length of the neck cooler.

2017 AQG Quilt Show
Joanne Reiter's quilt won honorable mention. I am having trouble getting the picture to download due to the size of the file. If you have one please send it to me here and I will add it. Also if i missed your entry please send me the info and picture and I will add it.
Kathy Obrien's quilt won 2nd place and then was chosen by the Quilters Hall of Fame. It was quilted by Penny Boese.
