Niimble Thimbles Christmas Party and on to the new Year!

No regular meetings in December but we hope to see you at the Nimble Thimbles Christmas party on December 12th at 6 PM.  It is at Mary's home again this year and she should have you down by now if you are coming--if not get ahold of her ASAP and see if there is still room.  Don't forget to bring paper products for donation!

Enjoy the holidays and we will meet again in January!

If you are interested in submitting a quilt to the AQG show you need to do the paperwork by January 19th.  The show is March 22 through 24.  It is the 40th Anniversary year so it should be quite a celebration!
Our first meeting in January will be here before we know it!  Don't forget to bring your completed block lotto birds BOM for our chance to win bird blocks. These are super cute and fun to make too!

Out second meeting in January we will have Carol Collett and vintage linen.
Don't forget your PUP Challenge--we are half way through the year and our challenge to complete the projects.   They are both motivating me because I have not touched my PUP and half the year is already gone.  Getting to it over my Holiday break for sure!
And a little eye candy for you from the 5th Annual Quiltville Mystery Kickoff Party.  This is not a guild event, but any Bonnie Hunter fan can be added to the list until we run out of chairs.  We only do it once a year and it is my favorite sewing day all year.  Do you recognize any Nimble Thimble members in our pictures?

What is Your Favorite Apple or Pumpkin Treat?

Bring in your favorite apple or pumpkin fall treat on our third Tuesday of the month meeting in November.
Also, don't forget to get started on your bird blocks for our BOM challenge.  Some lucky winners will be going home with beautiful birds!  This one was so popular we ran out of patterns!  By now it should have arrived in your email if you wanted one.  We will collect these at the first meeting in January.

Here are the awesome Christmas Star blocks won in October!  Congratulations Nancy and Cindy!  Nice job to all who participated!

First October Meeting Fun!

In addition to our small quilt auction this past Tuesday we had a fun guest speaker.  Kim Murray is our AQG Board Buddy and she stopped in to tell us about AQG and join the fun of our small quilt auction.  She is the co-chair of communications and is a geologist and self professed computer geek by day.  She loves traditional patchwork and hand quilting.  (She also loves Electric Quilt!).  She made her first quilt in 1998 and only a few years ago did she join her first guild.  It wasn't long and she was doing the AQG website, Patchwork Chatter and the newsletter!  It keeps her busy but she really enjoys it.  She is a member of the Night Owls.
It was fun to get to know our board buddy and to learn a bit about AQG too.  She encouraged us to go the 40th Anniversary celebration (on the right, click and log in for more information).  AQG has been up and running for forty years!  While we have about ninety members of our guild, AQG has about 1900!  AQG gives us more buying power so we can see and afford to see great national teachers, (did you sign up to see Charlotte Angotti?)  and helps us to be able to put on a great quilt show (sign up is here to enter your quilt in the next show) and of course provides us insurance for our activities and camps too.
Speaking of camp, Colleen shared the camp newsletter and supply list with all who were at the meeting.  Last chance to buy raffle tickets for the opportunity quilt is our next meeting.  One dollar for one, five dollars for six tickets!

We are still making and turning in our Christmas Star blocks for our BOM too.  We have quite a few already but you have until the next meeting to get yours done and in the mix.  I am really hoping to make a few myself now that I am on Fall Break!
Our next meeting we are making rag rugs--led by Debbie!  No idea if this picture I found online looks anything like what Debbie has in mind, but if you want the pattern to this one the link is on the bottom.  Otherwise, come to the next meeting, bring one inch strips in whatever colors you like and your scissors.  The guild will provide you with the "toothbrush" tool or some such thing and you will be on your way to making a giant rug (or a mug rug!).

Small Quilt Auction!

We had 55 donated items for our quilt auction including our Helen Robinson quilt and two charity quilts made by our recently passed and prolific charity quilter, Gudrun.  Money for her two charity quilts will not go into the general fund, but back into charity.  Two lucky folks will be taking home some really special stitches.  Here are photos of most of the donated items, I hope at least one went home with you!

Thank you to all who donated, all who bid and bought and all who helped out!  Check in helpers were Ruth, Judy and Karen, auctioneers were Colleen and JoAnn, our "Vannas" were Kathy O., and Leslie and check outs were manned by Susan and Jo.  Thanks to Crystal and Debbie for all they do every meeting too!  Thanks also to Cher and Michelle for snacks.  Nimble Thimbles would not be what it is without all of you!

Coming Up: Small Quilt Auction

October 3rd is our small quilt auction.  Are you working on your donation yet?  If not, you still have some time!  Barb is all ready with this sweet embroidered little quilt.  Love that sewing machine!

A little upside down, but do not forget to work on your Christmas Star BOM.  We get two extra weeks to make these blocks as the next exchange won't happen til a little later on.
I think this block is Crystal's--she is ahead of the game if it is.  Now where is that pattern, I need to get started!

Quilt-O was Fun!

If you missed our last meeting we had a lot of fun.  There was show and share as always and I had to get  a picture Fran's beautiful Blue Ridge Beauty--a Quiltville quilt!

Also snapped one of Debbie's gorgeous flower.  So many great quilts as always!

My table had some serious Quilt-O players.  I think most everyone won the game at least once!  Thanks to Kathy O. for running bingo and for everyone who helped with prep, setup, take down and calling.  We appreciate your hard work!

Up Next: QUILTO with Kathy O.

Join us on Tuesday to play QUILTO and win great prizes!  Don't miss this popular annual event!  Kathy O. is graciously hosting again.  QUILTO is exactly like BINGO, but uses fun quilting terms like thread, bobbin, and scissors.
