Community Service Update 2024 - 2025

Thanks to the generosity of Nimble Thimbles, our Community Service program has grown tremendously.

The Community Service team will continue to provide batting for the quilts, and will disseminate quilts to our quilting partners (both long-arm and domestic) to quilt and return to the group for binding. We welcome anyone who wishes to participate in the quilting process to do so.

Our current CS quilts are given to:

  • Gathering Humanity, which helps refugees settle in the Phoenix area.
  • UMOM which provides emergency shelter for single women and families
  • Pregnancy Crisis Center in Chandler, and Choices  Pregnancy Center, where young parents are taught skills to make motherhood and fatherhood a success.
  • Moms and Babies Veterans Program, which gives new veteran moms and babies supplies including quilts and new moms are pampered as much as their newborns.
  • Infinity Hospice and Hospice of the Valley,   where patients find warmth, love and comfort in their final days.

If you have any questions about our CS program, would like to take a more active role in Community Service or have suggestions about the program, please contact Sue Atwood at 860-550-0215.

From your 2026-2027 Community Service Team: Sue Atwood, Berta Knapp, Marianne Tomashefski, Donna Franks, Ngaire Kellogg
