We also will be having the Free Table - please be sure to take home any items you bring that aren't taken by the end of the night.

We will have Show and Tell and we will be accepting Community Service quilts.

 Come join us for the Fall Harvest Fun Night 11/21/23! We'll have members showcase their special talents on how to make Fabric Flowers, do English Paper Piecing, and stitch Sashiko.  Bring a sewing kit to the hands on demo.  A big thank you to our members who will be doing demonstrations: Joanne Reiter, Diane Pitchford and Colleen Euge.

The Harvest Challenge quilt is due at this meeting. We can’t wait to see your creation from the soy Batiking class.

Also please bring two of your favorite Harvest quilts for show and tell. 

At break time, we will have the Free Table and time to enjoy the refreshments.

This Tuesday 11/7/23 is our in person meeting. We will have Pam Rackley from Sweet Pzs Designs presenting Lori Holt’s patterns. She will have demonstrations, patterns for sale and quilts on display. A show you won’t want to miss. 

We will set up starting at 6:00pm (all help is welcome!) and our meeting will start at 7:00pm. 

Also, bring your show and tell items to our meeting. We look forward to being inspired by all your creative works!

We will have the give away table available for you to give and take items.

Bring your quilts for community service and they will be showing the one’s completed and received.

What:  Wonderful handmade items from Nimble Thimbles members - small quilts, bags, wall hangings and more. Come and get a head start on holiday decorations and gifts.  Bring your friends to join in bidding for the wonderful handmade items that will be available.

 

Donations for items will be used to fund Nimble Thimbles chapter meeting educational presentations and for Community Service projects.

 

Important:  Cash or check only.  Money is due at the end of the auction.

What do you need to bring?

A sewing machine, sewing kit (rotary cutter, scissors, ruler, small cutting mat), strip scraps, and scrappy fabric of your choice. Lots of scraps to organize!  A hand project if you choose not to sew.

We will start the meeting with membership and community service, then the scrappy activities will begin!  There are 3 activities to choose from:

Sewing the scrappy Donna Jordan pattern, sent in the previous email

Cut out scraps from Heather's scrap chart - this is your opportunity to get your scraps organized

A table for hand projects

Everyone is encouraged to participate in one of these activities!

At break time, enjoy snacks, the free table and the pattern exchange treasure hunt! 

After the break we will play the games with the 5” squares.  Remember to bring 5” scraps - 3 baggies with 25 scraps in each.

9/16/23 meeting-please bring 3 bags each with 25 - 5” square in a zip lock bag to play left right and center. This will give you an opportunity to get to know the NT members and make new friends. There will be other scrappy activities.

Community Service Sew In: Tuesday 5/30/23 5:30pm - 9:00pm

 

All Nimble Thimbles members: We need your help!

This coming Tuesday, May 30 2023, the 5th Tuesday, we are planning a Community Service sew night to piece backings and bindings to pair up with any remaining kits. By working together we can eliminate excess fabric and kits. Our goal is to eliminate as many kits and backing fabric as we can to reduce the need for storage. 

You also are welcome to bring any kits you pick up prior to May 30 to stitch and pair with backings and bindings. We will be starting at 5:30pm and can sew until 9:00pm.

Our current CS quilts are given to:

Gathering Humanity, which helps refugees settle in the Phoenix area;

Pregnancy Crisis Center, which assists young moms through their pregnancies;

Moms and Babies Veterans Program, which gives new veteran moms and babies supplies including quilts;

Two Hospice organizations in the Valley: Infinity Hospice and Hospice of the Valley.

We will have multiple ruler demonstrations by some of our talented members. Rulers include Stripology, Folded Corner Clipper and Easy Angle (Bonnie Hunter). Do you have a ruler that you are thinking about buying but not sure how to use it? Maybe you have one sitting there that you never used?  You will be provided with a passport to attend and get stamped at each of the demonstrations. At the end, all full passports will be put in a drawing to win a very popular ruler and a few gift card giveaways as well. 

 

Pregnancy Care Center: A representative from the Pregnancy Care Center will be at the meeting to share with us the impact our community service quilts have had on the recipients at their location. Our contributions are so appreciated by this group. 

Business Meeting: will include Show & Tell, discussion of nominations for next board to be voted on during April Zoom meeting, and other topics - see the email sent out to members.

Our next meeting on 1/17/23 will be via Zoom.   The meeting agenda and link to the Zoom meeting will be sent out by our Nimble Thimbles President Melissa closer to the meeting.  The presentation will be a talk on entering and judging in the AQG Quilt Show.

 Quilt Arizona! An Introduction to Entry & Judging

Did some of your members enter the last AQG Quilt Arizona! show? Do you have members who have never entered a judged quilt show? This presentation will be enjoyed by all the above, and everyone else, too!

For the first 30 minutes, Kimm will give you a behind the scenes tour of the Quilt Arizona! Entry and Judging processes. Including:

• Why enter a judged show?

• What to expect when you enter a judged show?

• Who are the Judges?

• What happens in the judging room?

This is the perfect introduction for a trunk show highlighting your own members who have entered past shows and are willing to talk about their experiences. More than just another Show & Tell – it is a chance for members to share their personal Quilt Arizona! story.

Program: "How to get SEW Inspired and Organized for 2023" 

We will have round table discussions at each table and then share the best ideas with the other members.

 

How do you plan and organize your projects for the year?

 

Do you need motivation and inspiration to complete a UFO?

Bring it to the meeting to get ideas from other quilters or swap with another quilter.

 

How will you be involved in Nimble Thimbles in 2023? A board position, a committee, or maybe host a challenge or do a trunk show! Talk at your table about who would be excited to join the leadership. Share stories of some events done in the past that you would like to see brought back and new ideas. 

 

Pre-cuts!

Bring charm packs, jelly rolls or layer cakes.

Bring pre-cut patterns to inspire other quilters to use those precuts.

Or swap pre-cuts with other quilters.

 

9:00 Go home and use the meeting program to be inspired for your 2023 projects!
