Art Quilting with Betty Hahn scheduled for Sunday August 21,2011
Thanks to those of you who have signed up for Betty's class. You are welcome to sign up at Tuesday's Nimble Thimbles meeting if you wish.
Please plan on arriving around 9:30 to set up your machine and be ready to sew at 10am. This educational opportunity is funded by our fabulous Chinese auction held in March 2010.

Intuitive Design, Easy easy curves! Sunday, August 21, 10-3
You will learn free cutting, (no measuring, no seam allowance) and then sewing curved pieces with no clipping and no pins no puckers or wrinkles. It WILL lay flat. We will also learn neighborly piecing, color and value selection.

Miscellaneous fat quarters and scraps (think big scraps!) in light, medium and dark values
Gray thread for piecing
Rotary cutter and small mat
Iron and small ironing surface (necessary) If you have any additional, please bring.
Scissors
Awl (critical)
Sewing machine and standard sewing supplies

CheriGood Designs coming on August 16, 2011
Local pattern makers Cheri Maniz and Audrey Goode will join us for a trunk show and pattern sale. It should be a fun evening. Please join us at 7pm for a great evening of fun.

Christmas in July ... join us on July 19th for a make and take event.
Tuesday's Nimble Thimble program will be Christmas in July, where we will be making folded fabric ornaments. Please bring your basic sewing kit with needle, thread, scissors, thimble, etc. Material will be provided.

Is you P.U.P. ( Poor Unfinished Project) ready for this Tuesday, July 5th???
Last year's Poor Unfinished Projects are due this Tuesday, July 5th! Really makes us wonder just how fast time flies by!
And for next years P.U.P. challenge members are invited to bring in three Poor Unfinished Projects (PUPs) that they have hanging around their sewing room (sometimes it is hard to decide which three). Each member will be allotted about 2-3 minutes to describe the items and then the entire membership gets to vote on which one you finish by July of the following year.
So, even if you aren't currently working on a PUP for this year, try to think about what three unfinished projects you will bring to the July 5 meeting.

Free class by Betty Hahn to be offered to Nimble Thimbles members

Who: The class will be taught by Betty Hahn, Sun Lakes speaker and teacher.
What: Nimble Thimbles is offering a Free class to its members, on a variation of a Jean Wells quilt. www.jeanwellsquilts.com
Where: Chandler Police Department, 250 E. Chicago, Chandler (one block off Arizona, directly east of the new city hall)
When: 9am-1pm, Sunday, August 21, 2011
Why: Just for fun - to try a new technique. Educational forum funded by Chinese Auction held March 2010.

Magazine and book swap on July 19,2011
Tidy up your sewing room and share with your quilting buddies as Nimble Thimbles will be having a magazine and book swap on July 19. Any remaining books will be donated to the Chandler Public Library. Thank you.
